Organising a date

When a client asks me to visit a museum with him (bear in mind there are many, and I've seen them all in my time), I try and coincide it with a new exhibit or exhibition that will be as enjoyable to me as it would for him.

My new Russian client is staying in South London for six months. He has a wife and children back in Moscow but wanted a professional and knowledgeable guide to show him the sights of the City. I laugh that he chose a London escort to do this, but I'm not complaining. So with 24 hours ' notice to prepare something, I had a good look at the British Museum. You couldn't get much more British than the royal family, so I booked us into the Mary Queen of Scots and Royal Manuscripts exhibitions. It was the critics' choice, so who was I to argue?

And then I thought, where would be the best place to dine? I have friends at Gordon Ramsey’s Claridges. With that in mind, I asked him to slot us into a table in various high places, and one of my most essential contacts worked for two, eating from the Menu Prestige. I quite fancy lobster - it's making my mouth water just thinking about it.

My Russian client has booked my time for this week and next, asking me to come up with something completely different each time, with no expense spared. I have suggested the theatre, but I think he wants to do something that involves walking about. If the weather holds, I might suggest strolling the length of the South Bank, and then we can look at St Paul, Big Ben and The Houses of Parliament as we chat. I'm so clever! To finish, I want to go to The Cirque Du Soleil, which is performing until the end of the month. He'll need to sit down after strolling for miles... at any rate, I will!

I'm looking forward to tomorrow now; it'll help me work off those Easter Eggs I have been polishing off!!
