Think you know about Sloane Square?

Sloane Square is the famous and fashionable square in Knightsbridge where the terms "Sloane Ranger" and "Sloaney type" come from. The area forms a boundary between the two largest aristocratic estates in London: The Grosvenor Estate and the Cadogan.   

The square is part of the Hans Town area designed in 1771 by Henry Holland Snr. and Henry Holland Jnr. The town and Square were named after Sir Hans Sloane (1660–1753), whose heirs owned the land then. Sloane was a founding member of the Chelsea Physic Garden, and his great art collection now resides within the British Museum.

A date with your chosen lady will undoubtedly lead to the famous department store, "Peter Jones," which was built in 1935 and was the first building structure in Britain to use a glass curtain. It is worth taking a romantic stroll down the King's Road, which leads into the Square and dips in and out of the designer fashion stores. When this has worked up an appetite, you may want to people-watch at one of the cafes. Try and spot a die-hard Sloane Ranger from the 80s!

The square is home to the Royal Court Theatre, renowned for pioneering some ground-breaking plays, including several works by George Bernard Shaw, John Osborne and Arnold Wesker. You must take your Chelsea companion to see one of the current plays being staged at this lovely theatre.   

There are plenty of places of interest in the immediate area - including the National Army Museum near Sloane Street. Take a look at the church on Sloane Street called Holy Trinity, which is known as the Cathedral of the Arts and Crafts movement, built-in 1890. Be careful not to go too far up Sloane Street because as you approach Knightsbridge, your escort will not be able to resist going into the many designer stores there. Especially Harrods!
